Christianity -- Christian Living/Twisting the Bible meaning

Question
It is common among Christians to conduct Thanks-giving services for the loved ones departed with the sentiment that they are with God. In event it is a known fact the departed soul is not SAVED isn’t the rationale of this act is unfounded?

Answer
Dear Nihal,

There is no biblical substantiation that I am aware of, for traditional Christianity's methods concerning viewings and funerals.

The only verse that I am aware of (according to traditional Christianity) that substantiates a departed person being with GOD (if saved), is 2Co 5:6  "Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord--
2Co 5:7  for we walk by faith, not by sight-- 2Co 5:8  we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord."

Hope that helps you!

Sincerely,
Pastor Ron
