Question I was raised as a Christian, and I do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It has always been my understanding that the dead cannot come back to interact with the living.
This is kind of an elaborate story... My friend Justin is living with his best friend, Richard's mom. Justin and Richard have been friends since elementary school, and they are now in their 20s. Justin has told me that Richard and his mom have always have trouble with ghosts in their house. The tv has gone on by itself, they've heard voices, etc. Richard's mom, Linda now lives in a different house, but she says she hears voices from one of the bedrooms sometimes.
Yesterday I was visiting Justin and Linda. We were in the garage and I went inside to use the bathroom. I walked down the hallway past the bedroom and I know I heard voices. They were muffled, as if they were coming from the closet or something. I stopped and listened, then went to the doorway of the room and the voices stopped. I talked to Linda about it, and she said that's exactly what she hears.
I've always believed that ghosts don't exist, but I do believe that demons might be mistaken for ghosts. Is it possible that a demon might be following Linda from house to house? And why would they just do silly things like turn on the tv or talk in a room? It doesn't seem like they have a lot of purpose being in that house. Are my friends in any danger of living there? Am I in danger when I visit them?
I am very confused about this. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes, they are demons. Why would they do such silly things? Well, I'll answer your question with a question - Are you confused? Everything demons do is to confuse people. If hearing voices and TV's turning on is taking your focus away from the fact that God exists and does stuff a whole load more powerful than any of that, they've succeeded. And dead people are just that, dead. The only purpose demons need is to instill fear and confusion, maybe make people believe there's dead people in their house. Yes, Linda may own an item (Ouija board, book on occult, anything like this, or even something she thinks is nothing like a blanket from a foreign country) that has a spirit attatched to it, or she herself may have one following her around.
You're not in danger. In fact, you can tell them to go away - they have to obey you. They hate that fact, but it's true, humans have power over demons. So have everyone in the house agree that they have to go, and declare it. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask for details.
