QuestionPhillip,
I understand that Mohammed came some 500 years after Jesus, but I have an interest in prophecy re End Times and can find no mention.
BTW,a co worker is considering converting to Islam. He ses no problem with it conflicting with Christianity and says Jesus is even revered and mentioned in the Koran.
Maybe I'm old school, but something doesnt feel right to me.
Any thoughts?
AnswerBud,
Thanks for your question. I am not an expert on Islam. However, there are some aspects of your question that I feel that I can answer. The god of Islam is not the same God of Israel. There are many false gods in the world, and "Allah" is one of them. The fact that Islam claims to "revere" Jesus is true. There is no factual evidence that they worship Him as Lord. They place him at the same level of Mohammed, in that they consider him to be a "great prophet". The problem comes when they claim Him to be a great prophet, yet when His words are used to show Him to be more than just a great prophet, they claim that His words are not correctly interpreted in the Bible, and that Mohammed's writings clarify His words. In other words, they change His words to fit Islam. They really do not revere His words as a prophet. If they did, they would find many contradictions between Islam's god and the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac.
The writings of Mohammed came from a man that considered suicide on numerous occasions, because he was concerned that he was being attacked by demonic spirits. Only after being comforted by his wife, did he begin to write the qur'an.
There is most certainly something wrong with Islam. It is not compatible with Christianity at all. The Old Testament writings about what God did to the gods that were worshipped by other peoples, should alert any person seeking the truth that there is an extreme danger of accepting any other god than the God of the Bible. "Allah" is one of those gods.
I hope this has helped with your question.
