Question
Was Paul ever rebuked in scripture after he wrote in 1 Cor. about women not having authority over men?  I also saw what he wrote in 1Tim. about the subject but cannot find anything against this teaching.
Thank You and God Bless You,
Sonny Richards

Answer
Sonny,

As you have indicated, Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote concerning women that they are to be in subjection to the man. This is not a demeaning role for the woman, but rather a place of honor, just as we are subject to Christ, and it is an honor to be in subjection to Him.

Those that would make it to be demeaning to the woman fail to recognize that God has placed the responsibility on the man to be both the leader and the caretaker of the woman. Paul also wrote that the man is to love his wife, even as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. When Paul speaks of the woman as the weaker vessel, he speaks not of the frailty, but of the presciousness. Lead Crystal is fragil, but when we speak of it, we don't focus on its fragility, but on its beauty. It is not to be used for everyday (because of its fragility), but is to be treated with great dignity and respect. Women should also be treated in such a way.

A man that allows a woman to be over him, allows many sorrows upon that woman. He places her in harms way, when he should be the one taking the "hits" in her place.

Many women are better speakers that many men. Unfortunately, many churches place the emphasis on the abilities and education of a woman, rather than on their proper role as servants of God and of the church. Many churches also make that same mistake with many men.

The most godly women, I believe, are those that seek to be a servant under the Lordship of Christ, in a role that is under the man. Those that do not adorn themselves with outward apparel, but with the godliness that is in the heart, are those I believe honor the Lord.

I know of no Scriptures that would contradict these teachings or the writings of the Apostle Paul.

I hope this has answered your question.

With Love In Christ,

Expertise

I seek to help Christians in doctrinal matters. Many Christians think that doctrine doesn`t matter, yet the Scriptures indicate otherwise. It is my desire to share from the Word of God with those who have legitimate questions. As such, I cannot claim expertise, except that I will seek to answer from the Authority (the Bible). If I cannot find a Biblical answer, I may offer an opinion based upon my understanding of Scripture, or I will simply reply with an, "I Don`t Know".
