AnswerDonald,
I appreciate you taking the time to investigate the teachings of others. I hope you will also examine the Scriptures to see whether what I write is Biblical. The Genesis account of creation is written, as most English scholars know, in a paragraph form. Because of that, it is written following the rules of English grammar (I don't always do that, as I am not an English scholar). In writing a paragraph, the first sentence is a summary of that whole paragraph. The same is true concerning the creation.
First, there is the statement that God created man in His own image, male and female made He them. This was on the sixth day. It then follows with a detailed description of that creation in the verses following. Many hold to a "gap theory" concerning the creation account because they fail to take into account the proper form of the English composition of a paragraph. That is what they do with the creation of man also. Adam (male & female) was created in God's image on the sixth day.
There are those that take the passage in 1 John 3:10-12 to mean that Cain is the offspring of Satan in a physical sense. That is far from the truth, as Genesis makes it abundantly clear that "Adam knew his wife Eve and she conceived and bare Cain." The meaning here of "knew" speaks of intimate sexual relationship." When the false teachers are shown that, they usually say you are misunderstanding the clear passage of Scripture. Be not deceived. There are many false teachers gone out into the world.
This sounds like a teaching of Mr. (Arnold?) Murray in Arkansas, or those that follow the teachings of the late Mr. (William O.?) Branham. Neither of these men are trustworthy teachers of God's Word. The followers of Mr. Branham's teachings also teach that the beast of the field represents those that cannot be saved, yet Scripture indicates that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentence.
The teachings you refer to indicate that those that have presented this information to you are following the teachings of men, and I would suggest that you distance yourself from them. The Scriptures indicate that the false prophet is not to be revered and the false teacher is not to be given the space of even an hour to be listened to. In other words, if you cannot prove something to be true by all accounts of Scripture, the person who is teaching that falsehood is to be shunned. The Scripture says that they are dividers, bringing in "damnable heresies".
If the account of the creation in Genesis is not adhered to, it makes the whole salvation plan obscure and inadequate. Paul referenced the creation account in presenting an argument concerning the need of Christ to die for our sins, thus becoming the "second Adam".
I hope this has been helpful to you, and please submit my responses to the examination of Scripture for validation. Also, please rate my responses when given the opportunity, as it allows me to know of areas of weakness and strength. Also, please know that I welcome follow-up questions or comments.
With Love In Christ,
