AnswerAmber,
I have done an extensive search for the verse(s) you asked about. There are none that begin with "Woe" in regards to the topic you mention. However, I think we can look at the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans. He deals with the fact that we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Jesus even told stories (parables) of those that thought because they were followers of His, they were more righteous than the others. He tells of the story of the rich man in the temple, who thanked God he wasn't like other men, and then began to talk of their sins. But Jesus said of the publican (sinning tax collector) that he went down to his house justified, because he was contrite in his spirit before the Lord.
Paul said in one passage, "Your glorying is not good". Sometimes we fail to recognize our failures before the Lord, because we have never really seen the Lord for who He is. Remember the prophet Isaiah? When He had seen the Lord, high and lifted up, He saw himself as a man of unclean lips, one who was undone. The closer we get to God, it doesn't necessarily mean that we will live like we should, but it does mean that we will see His Holiness, and in doing so, we will see how insignificant we are compared to Him. That will work in our hearts and lives to draw us more towards that Holiness that is only found through faith in the Lord Jesus. But we look for a day of His coming, and because of that, we seek to purify ourselves for His glory and honor.
I am sorry that I wasn't able to locate the verse you were asking about, but I hope my comments were able to assist you in your walk with our Lord Jesus.
With Love in Christ,
Phillip Senn
