Christianity--Church History/What name Christ manifested?

Question
Dear Sir:
I would appreciate very much if you throw some light on the following:
I have manifested thy name unto the men (John 17:6); I have declared unto them thy name (John 17:26)
What was the name that Christ is speaking of?  What was the name of the Creator that Christ believed?
Thanks a lot.
Respectfully yours
Farooq

Answer
Farooq,

Thank you for your question.

These verses are Jesus (Who is the Son of God) praying to the Heavenly Father. When Jesus said "thy name" He was speaking of the Heavenly Father, and His whole character towards mankind. Himself, his nature, his perfections, especially of grace and mercy, his mind and will, his Gospel. The knowledge which Christ had of the Father was now to be imparted to the disciples, and they had received it, and had thereby been in some measure fitted for the revelation of the glory for which he had just prayed.

The world (those who do not follow Jesus), on the contrary, had rejected Christ's revelation, and had refused to know God, and had thus become unworthy of the privilege here asked for the disciples.

Please let me know if this helps, or if you have any further questions.

Experience

I gave my heart to the Lord a few months after being married during a revival meeting. A few weeks later I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I have not been the same since! In those twenty five years we have only attended one church (Harvest Church), and there I have served there as an Elder for fourteen years. We minister in song with the choir and worship team. I am also the new member’s class coordinator, men's ministry director, and the Harvest Riders motorcycle ministry president. In 1993 the Lord called me to "...preach the Gospel where ever I open the door..." I have had the privilege of ministering God's Word to churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In those meetings we have seen the Lord save, heal, deliver, and fill people will His Spirit.

I am ordained through Harvest Church, and with the World Harvest Ministerial Fellowship. I also am a licensed minister with the State of Oklahoma,
