Christianity--Church History/Speaking in tongues

Question
QUESTION: Should I speak in an unknown tongue as proof I'm filled with the Holy Ghost,it's not happened yet to me but people say it should and since it has not something is wrong

ANSWER: If you asked me this question sometime back I would have agreed with those who said this to you but now after learning and studying the bible and the witnesses and their teachings my answer is no.I have learned why this is so,see Mark gifts of the spirit identified true prophets and servants of God, just as the performing of miracles established Moses’ authenticity as God’s prophet. However speaking in tongues was not one of the miraculous powers exercised by Jesus as I have learned it was not until Pentecost that this gift was first received.

Why was it necessary?,because it served as an effective evidence that Christians had God’s spirit, the Lord had established the Christian Church and people had their own way of worship especially the Jews who killed Jesus so they would not accept this new way of worship then or do they accept the New Testament now.

Also there was another reason tongues were given, this gift of tongues they were able to witness to Jews coming from many different lands and who did not understand Aramaic.

Here in 2009 neither of these two reasons holds.Christianity having demonstrated its divine origin, there is no further need for miracles. So it cannot be from God today

Matthew 7:21-23

And Paul prophetically warned of a future time when there would be fraudulent miracles, or “lying signs and portents

2 Thessalonians 2:8-10.
So these spiritual gifts given to first-century Christians were only temporary in nature many Pastors will disagree but the bible answers

1 Cor. 13:8

QUESTION:
1 Cor. 13:8

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

So you are saying tongues vanished away but this doesn't say when ,how can you say its today when people are speaking in tongues maybe this ia talking about after the rapture.

Answer
We have to look at the context

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

So the gifts are saud to cease when that which is perfect comes,is the perfect the rapture?  no.

the words “when that which is perfect must be having complete knowledge of Gods will and his word keep in mind they didn't have both the NT and OT as we do,it cant be as I once thought this was talking about when Jesus comes because later Paul says somthing was to remain after it ceased

13and now there doth remain faith, hope, love -- these three; and the greatest of these [is] love

So after it ceased what was to remain was faith, hope, love ,so if the perfect is the second Advent in what way would faith remain and hope since all of our faith and hopes would be relized

faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief "not resting on logical proof or material evidence so this coulldn't be when Jesus comes

The bible says of faith

1And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction,

So would faith remain when Jesus comes since there would be no need to hope for Jesus coming.

So no the perfect this is talking about is complete knowledge of his will.
