Christianity--Church History/Baptist religion

Question
Hi,
Would you be able to tell me more concerning the baptist religion and how it differs from other religions? I am looking for a church and I have not been happy with the churches I have attended in the past. They tended to be all about doctrine, politics and money and not about the word or God. Thank you, Cindy

Answer
The Baptists are a very diverse group and what you will find when you attend one of their services is hard to tell.

At one time they were a "Bible teaching" church but as you pointed out, churches get involved in politics and special doctrines unique to themselves.

I can only advise you to attend one or two close to where you live and see what they are teaching.  You are looking to hear the word of God explained and taught but also look to see if they have love for one another and for you as visitors which expresses God's love for us.
