Christianity--Church History/Jesus as God
Expert: Brenda Martin - 1/4/2003
QuestionO.K. first of all I apologize if this isnt a history question, I wasnt sure what catagory this would fit into. I'm trying to find out which christian religions believe that Jesus is God (or a part of God) and which ones do not. I know that Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists believe that he is God (or part of ect...)and that Jehova's Witnesses believe he is not, but thats all I know. Any help you can give would be helpful. Thank You, Monica B.
AnswerHi Monica,
WHICH CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS GOD (OR A PART OF GOD)
Most people in Christendom do, it has been the central doctrine of the churches for centuries.
Others, however, say that the Trinity doctrine is false, that Almighty God stands alone as a separate, eternal, and all-powerful being. They say that Jesus in his prehuman existence was, like the angels, a separate spirit person created by God, and for this reason he must have had a beginning. They teach that Jesus has never been Almighty God's equal in any sense; he has always been subject to God and still is. They also believe that the holy ghost is not a person but God's spirit, his active force.
As you said Jehovah's Witnesses is one of them.
Judaism is another.
The Polish Brethren.
Anabaptists.
Socinians.
Are the only ones I have heard of.
Considering its history its not surprising those who do NOT believe in the trinity are in the minority.
“She was burned to death in England in 1550. Her name? Joan Bocher. Her crime? The Encyclopædia Britannica says: “She was condemned for open blasphemy in denying the Trinity, the one offense which all the church had regarded as unforgivable ever since the struggle with Arianism.”
But then it is not surprising this false doctrine is widely believed as the bible says the “whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one” and he (Satan) is “misleading the entire inhabited earth” all the best Monica, thanks brenda
