I don't believe you are going to be able to get a direct answer as to whether or not predestination is true or false considering it goes in circular logic. If I tell you that predestination is true and you stop practicing your faith then the argument is that you were predestined to lose your faith anyways and you didn't have a choice in actuality. From my own studies and discussions on the topic I have found that there most likely is a balance between predestination and free will but it is beyond our capacity as humans to be able to reason it.
