Question
Why was the New Testament written in Greek and not Hebrew?

Answer
Much like English is a universal language today, Greek was the universal Mediterranian language of that time. Most commerce was shipping by sea and Greece had become the center of that commerce.

The Old Testament was written specifically for the children of Isreal because they were chosen by God to carry the message of redemption until the Messiah came into the world.  As God had told Abraham, this message was for the whole world as well as for the physical descendents of Abraham.

In the wisdom of God, the common conversational Greek (koine Greek) was His choice in further carrying the good news to the part of the world which would continue spreading this news...even to today.
