Question
how to determine if something is “a move of God”

Answer
Catonya,

Thank you for your questions. I hope that my answers to your previous questions were helpful.

Before we can tell if something is a move of God, we must first define what a move of God is. Though the Bible does not use the specific words "move of God", it does teach us what it is.

A move of God is when He sovereignly pours out His Spirit upon people to bring them into a right standing with the Father, to bless them, to bring revelation, to build their faith, and to renew their zeal for Him.

It is the responsibility of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ to zealously pursue an intimate and passionate relationship with their God. When we draw near to God, He will always draw near to us. God is always faithful to pour out His Spirit on those who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

John 4:23- But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

With this in mind, some of the ways you can determine if something is a "move of God" are...

1. Does it line up with the Word of God? Just because it may look or feel like a move of God, we should not accept it as such if opposes the Bible and it's teachings.

John 17:17 - Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2. Does it give the glory to God? Anything that receives glory instead of giving it to God is pride, and pride will always lead to destruction.

Prov. 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

A few Biblical examples of a move of God are...

1. The father of faith Abraham receiving revelation from God, and walking in obedience.
Gen 17

2. When Samuel lead the children of Israel in repentance back to God.
1 Sam. 7

3. When the Lord poured out the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts.
Acts 2, Acts 10, Acts 19

Catonya, please let me know if this helps, or if you have any further questions.

Experience

I gave my heart to the Lord a few months after being married during a revival meeting. A few weeks later I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I have not been the same since! In those twenty five years we have only attended one church (Harvest Church), and there I have served there as an Elder for fourteen years. We minister in song with the choir and worship team. I am also the new member’s class coordinator, men's ministry director, and the Harvest Riders motorcycle ministry president. In 1993 the Lord called me to "...preach the Gospel where ever I open the door..." I have had the privilege of ministering God's Word to churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In those meetings we have seen the Lord save, heal, deliver, and fill people will His Spirit.

I am ordained through Harvest Church, and with the World Harvest Ministerial Fellowship. I also am a licensed minister with the State of Oklahoma,
