If you earned the doctorate, and you are comfortable wearing a religious stole, do so. Among those of us that have both, whether every Sunday or occasionally the practice in the free church is open to congregational approval. In churches where there are outside authorities to consider, it is best to do as the denomination approves. Clerical robes, strips or not, are not a ditch to die in.
