Christianity --Youth Issues/Following Jesus as Savior !

Question
Hello Sarah,
I am a Hindu guy living in India, but I also concentrate my studies with Christianity because I do think Jesus as Savior – not only to Christian people but others too who believe in His Divine Power. Well, what I wish to know why there are so many fractions and denominations in Christian religion while almost all of you believe in following “Jesus Christ” as the only way in achieving paramount blessings?
Thanks in advance.
Raj

Answer
Hi Indraraj,
Sarah has made your question available for others to answer so I shall try my best to help. (My names's Eleanor by the way. I'm a Christian living in Wales in the UK) Your question is a very good question and one to which there is no easy answer.

Personally I get very, very frustrated my all the factions and denominations in the Christian church. I believe if Christians used as much time and energy praying and sharing the love of Jesus with the people around them as they do on disagreeing we'd be living in a very different world!

You are correct of course, in terms of the core beliefs surrounding salvation, Christians will agree. Jesus Christ is the son of God and was born as a man, lived and died and was brought back to life as a man so that we (you, me, everyone around us) do not have to spend eternity in hell when we die. There has to be action on our part of course because we must accept His offer of salvation, believe in Jesus and invite Him into our lives.

But why do Christians disagree on other things? Like I said, there is no easy answer to this question but when God created us, He gave us minds to think and reason. If we all have the ability to think and reason, we are not all going to agree all of the time. More importantly, I believe the devil uses our ability to reason and think to his own advantage.

If the Christian church is using all its energy disagreeing, it won't be as effective in loving people on Jesus' behalf so it's totally in the devil's interest to encourage the church to argue.

What I find most exciting about your question Indraraj is the way you've been able to see Jesus as the Saviour for the whole world, He's not just for people who call themselves Christians or people who were born in a traditional Christian country. The bible promises that if you believe in Jesus as the Son of God, you will be saved.

"For God loved the world so much, he sent his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Romans 10:9+10

I will be praying for you Indraraj that you will come to know Jesus in your heart as your Lord and Saviour.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour and as such, I would be delighted to help you in your journey towards a personal relationship with God. I can answer (or try to answer!) questions about the bible and how to apply it to modern life. I would love to share with you as you learn how to live your life as an ambassador for Jesus. If you are feeling lonely and worthless and you need to know someone loves you, I'd be happy to give you a hug on Jesus' behalf and share with you how much He loves you.

Experience

I became a Christian 14 years ago and since then, have experienced both the wonderful times when God feels close and His purpose for my life is easy to see as well as the times when God has felt far away. In my late teens and early 20s I chose to ignore God and had no place for Him in my life. He was gracious enough to call me back to Him and I now try to live each day for His purpose. As a secondary school teacher, I have a lot of contact with young people. I also remember what it was like to be 15! I feel very passionately that God has a purpose for everyone's life and I strive to use mine to share His love with as many people as I can. I'm the secretary of our local church and the charity Give A Brick. We work with children and young people and as such, have a good understanding of the issues facing today's teens.
