Hello im a 26 yr old recent college grad and my problem is this : My old college buddy recently asked me to attend a concert with her. I want to go bc it sounds fun but the problem is my mom doesnt approve because she says its a "ungodly" concert. Ive never attended a concert b4 the last time i wanted to see a band i liked that came to town she said no because concerts are sinful. I personally dont see the big deal but my mom thinks its terrible that i want to attend a "secular" concert. My question is are concerts "sinful"? What does Jesus say about them?

Hi Kia,

Thanks for this great question.  I am sorry for my late response. Are you still living with your mother at age 26?  If you are and you are still under her authority, then you should follow her direction.  If you are living on your own you can make these decisions.  

Now as to whether or not it is sin... that is between you and God.  THere are many non Christian musicians that sing about bad things.  Would Jesus go to this concert with you?  Will there be drinking and drug use?  You can use common sense and see if this is a good thing or not.  Remember, if you come to a different conclusion than your mother, if you are still under her authority, you should just do as she says.
