Question
QUESTION: Dead Susan,

I am 15, and my brother is 18. For years I have been warned to avoid pornography. I have done my best to do so. My brother has always been a role model for me, but recently, I was on his computer, and i found porn all over. I really want to help him, but i don't know how. How can i break him from this malicious pitfall?

         Thank you, sincerely, Richard

ANSWER: Richard,

Would you mind if I shared this question with my husband, and allowed him to offer his input?
I think he would do a much better job than I at addressing it. But I want your approval of that first.

  Sincerely, Susan M.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I don't mind, i just want to help my brother, anything it takes.

Answer
Dear Richard,

Finally, here is my response for you, which my husband wrote. I apologize that it took me so long.  Hopefully the wait has somehow even worked together for your good in mulling over the issue....

Here it is, cut and pasted :

I suggest he speak with his brother about it.  Let his brother talk about
how he got in the trap and how he feels about it.  He should encourage his
brother to remove it all from his computer and seek help from a mature
Christian man that he trusts.  If his brother feels comfortable speaking
with his father, he should be encouraged to do that.  He will need some help
in recovering from the addiction and damage he has done to himself.

But he needs to be prepared for his brother to respond negatively.   If his
brother is unwilling to accept his help, he should himself speak with
someone he trusts about the situation.  It would be best if it were someone
both brothers feel comfortable with so that man can act as a third party to
help both brothers in the situation.  It might not be best to go directly to
his parents.  That would be the avenue to take if the older brother does not
respond to both the younger brother and their mutual friend.

There you go, Richard! (Susan here again)  God be with you . I'm praying for you and for your brother.

God bless you so much for wanting to help him towards purity.

Love in Jesus,
Susan M.
