Question
I wonder if you could help me. Over the past few months I have been trying to build my faith and find God in my life. About 3 months ago I kept feeling a presence at night in my bedroom, this went on for a few nights, I did not visualise anything but just felt a presence and would find myself reciting the Lords Prayer and it would go away, I then hung a Rosary at my bedpost and did not feel this again until last night. This was different as it was a presence as well as the feeling that someone was pulling my blankets off me and stepping lightly across my bed. I had my Bible next to me on my bedside table. After praying it went away. My question is could this be satan trying to sabotage my way in trying to build up my faith and find God in my life and if not that why am I feeling this? Are these bad dreams that feel like reality? How do I go about getting them to stop?

Answer
Hi Brenda,

Thanks for this great question.    I am very sorry for my late response.  I cannot answer for sure if these are demons or not, but the fact that they seem to respond when you pray seems to indicate that you probably are dealing with some kind of forces of darkness.  We are told that our fight is not with flesh and blood but with these unseen forces.  These forces seem to manifest themselves in a clearer way than others, but we battle these forces all the time.. sometimes we see their effects some times we do not, but we always battle them.

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Demonic beings will not be afraid of inanimate objects like a cross or crucifix, but they will respond to a believers prayer and Jesus' blood has already defeated them.  Before you go to bed, pray outloud, pleading the blood of Jesus and asking Him to put a hedge around you so that these forces would not be allowed  in your home.  These things are afraid of Jesus and anyone who belongs to Him.

1Jn 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It would be wise for you to ask God if there is anything in your life that does not belong there.  Have you been watching the wrong stuff or listening to bad stuff that would invite these beings in your home?  Have you been involved in pornography or something like that?  These things open doors to invite these things to hang around.  make sure that all those doors are closed through prayer and confession.

I hope that this helps you.
