The short answer is no, you don't have to be baptized first.  You don't have to be baptized at all, really, but you will want to in order to formalize your belief.

The process of being saved and becoming a Christian can happen anywhere, anytime - the short answer is that you have to acknowledge that you're a sinner, that you accept Jesus Christ as having died to pay for your sins, and that you ask Jesus to live in your heart.

There are a LOT of different denominations, and some have some differences in theoologies, but the process of becoming a Christian is essentially the same for all of them.

Baptism is an act that "formalizes" your becoming a Christian.  Normally, but not always, baptism will be performed by an ordained minister of the Christian faith, and usually when you become baptized, you will also become a member of that particular church congregation.

Baptism is often performed for babies whose parents are Christian.  When they become old enough, they will go to a class to learn more about Christianity, and if they agree and believe, they will become "confirmed" to formalize their acceptance of the baptismal vows that were said for them as a baby.  As an adult, the process of Baptism and Confirmation is performed at the same time.

I hope this answers your question.

Blessings,
Carl
