Question
What do I say to a non-christian who is talking to me about hhis life being worthless? I know what i would say to a Christian, but I can't say it to a non-Christian because they don't believe it. I really don't know how to answer non-Christian's questions. Especially when they are depressed. This person does not have a good home life. I just don't know what to say. I want to help without sounding like a Christian bandaid.

Answer
Hi KJ,

Thank you for this great question.  It is hard to immagine what an unbeliever can run to for comfort when we so often seek the truth of scriptures.  Your best bet is still to use the scriptures.  One does not have to believe the Sword is sharp in order to be cut by it.  Share specific verses about how much God loves him and the sacrifice Jesus did on the cross.  Do not be afraid to simply give the truth and let him accept or rejectit.

Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

I hope that this helps you.
