Question
Hi. I'm becca. I really like this guy that goes to my school. I was raised in the typical christian hone with the christian parents and perfict brother. But this guy i like says he's wikken... The ppl I ask say that wikken is a type of dark magic followers kinda thing. And he says he's sold his soul to azryal? The angel of death. And that he can hear spirits in his head. And they help him.... He says that eventually he'll try out my church, which im thrilled about. But he says he wants me to come to one of his cults things.... Hes a great and sweet guy but this stuff is scary and i know, to an extent, that its partly real. I guss I'm asking.... Can he be saved if you've sold your soul to someone/the angel of death? Is there a way to make the voices "go away"?How can I get out of going with him? He knows where I stand and what I believe in. He says he's not gunna force me to do anything.... I just don't know what to do..... Help?....

Answer
Hi Becca-

Thanks for writing.  It's called Wicca, and he is called a Wiccan.  It's essentially the religion of witches, and is considered a pagan religion. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicca
and see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paganism_(contemporary_religions)

Although not really a cult, many people consider it cult-like.  It is more like a religion that worships and follows a different god and/or goddess than we do.  As Christian, we are monotheistic (one God), while Wiccans lean more towards polytheistic (many gods).

They do have some dark arts ceremonies and rituals, sometimes performed in the nude, and they believe in magic and cast spells.

If you were my child, I probably would not give you permission to attend one of his rituals or cult things or whatever he calls them.  As a Christian, your beliefs are so far removed from his, that there really is no point, other than perhaps educational.

Can he be saved by Jesus Christ?  Of course. He may have sold his soul to the azrael (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azrael), but if he hasn't found Jesus yet, then I'm not sure that has any real meaning.  The Bible says that any sin can be forgiven except a sin against the Holy Spirit, which means denying the Holy Spirit and God altogether.  Maybe he's done that, but if he's still willing to come to your church, then I doubt it. His willingness to go to church with you indicates to me that he is still seeking his way and searching for the truth.

The only way I know to make the "voices" go away is through therapy.

You asked how you could get out of going with him.  Simple.  Say you're not interested, you're not going, and that it's not negotiable.  You could also ask your parents for permission, and I'm pretty sure they're not going to let you go anyway (and definitely do NOT go without your parents' permission).  If he tries to use that as a bargaining chip before going to your church, simply tell him, "You're welcome to come to my church anytime, with or without me, but I choose NOT to go to your church.  If that prevents you from coming to my church, I'm sorry, but it is not a negotiable item."

I hope this helps.  Please take the time to rate my answer.

Blessings,
Carl
