Expert: Pastor Don Carpenter - 7/28/2011
Questionhi, i have this problem that i get every summer (after days of being home, watching tv) i feel empty and alone even though i go out i just don't feel happy and i know that they say that when God is in your life you won't feel empty and you'll feel joy in your life so now i doubt that i lost myself and my connection with God because when i'm at school and have all the studying and being with a lot of friends i don't feel like that and when i come home i feel content with what i accomplished but when i have nothing to do i just feel useless and i know i should try busying myself now but it just doesn't work. So please help...
AnswerHi Sandra,
Thanks for this great question. I am sorry that you are going through this. I have three suggestions to help fill the emptiness.
1. It sounds like you are a believer. You should be involved in a Bible Believing church when you are home. You seem to need fellowship of other believers. That is how God designed. us.
Hebrews 10:24–25 (AV)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
2. Pray every day. Get a personal relationship built up with God and this will fill some of the empty space.
Psalm 5:1–3 (AV)
1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
3. Read and memorize scripture. THis will make you a stronger person.
Psalm 119:9–11 (AV)
9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
I hope that this helps you.
In Christ
