Considering that the term "gothic" is just a name for a popular fashion statement, is it a sin to be "gothic" and a Christian?

Hi Amanda-

Without knowing the person who is goth, my answer is certainly not- being "fashionable" is not a sin.  I don't think God cares much what we wear, as long as it is not revealing or sexually alluring.  I think God looks into our hearts to determine our true intentions.  The only thing necessary to be a Christian is to believe that Jesus died for your sins, accept Him into your heart, and go forth attempting to live a sinless life.  What you wear is not important.

Now that I've said that, I'd like to know more - who is the person who is goth?  Is it you, and you're getting grief from parents or teachers?  Is it someone else you either like or dislike and are looking for an excuse to either not like or like them?  Some goths have been known to NOT be Christian and to practice witchcraft, but then it becomes much more than just a fashion statement.  I've known several younger Christians who were very faithful to God (one of them is my nephew, who when he was in High School you'd swear he was a drug dealer by his looks, but he wasn't).
