Christianity --Youth Issues/Pacifisim

Question
Dear Dr. Tim
I am a senior in high school and the school that I attend tends to be liberal/pacifist in the students and faculties views and beliefs. I am not. My faith is that of an on fire, God fearing , passionate Christian who sees what this world is becoming and wants to reach out and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all. I am deeply troubled by my passive "Christian" friends who claim they are living how Jesus lived and who he was. The problem is that they don't really care about the fact that Jesus calls us to save the lost and that thousands of people are dying into everlasting torment. Also they don't really care about how we should live and that we should abstain from the pleasure of this world and live honorable, lives that Jesus would want. What they care more importantly about is not killing or making peace in this world.(because they believe that Jesus' highest calling and the point of a Christian is to bring about peace). I think that this line of living though appearing to be noble and honorable for the most part is taking people down a path that will leave their faith ineffective, culturally acceptable and unproductive. That is just my opinion I guess, but I would love to hear yours. Thanks!

Answer
Randall,

I have to agree with you in some points. The number one thing as Christians we are to do is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The pacifist is mainly concerned about peace at any cost or compromise. This country was founded for religious freedom and by Christians and we are still considered to be a Christian nation. The liberals are trying to make to general public believe that religious freedom means that the gov't can not get involved in religion. They are changing the intent that the founding fathers meant. They simply did not want the church to run the gov't. I admire you for standing up for what you believe and I hope that in these conversations that you have with others that you remember that Jesus also wants peace. This is for governments to haggle over and we as individual Christians are to share the Gospel. I enjoy questions like this one and keep them coming.

God bless
