I would like to answer the biological question about the production of semen.  When the male body has produce "unused" semen, it is then safely absorbed by the body.  Ultimately you have to let the Holy Spirit guide you, talk to  you, there have been times where i didn't want Him to talk to me so i can do what i wanted to do at the time.  I'm not here to tell whether masturbating is wright or wrong but just to remind you that God will guide us if we truly let him. I struggle with the same question Sebastian, and I'm leaning more with not doing it than doing it. I'm a 26 year old man that hasn't had sex myself and i have the same queries as you do. My advice is give "not masturbating" ask God to help you with not doing it and see what happens.  I cant tell you what will happen when you do but see if your drive to do it slows down or not...I stopped having oral sex in 2002 and since then i have masturbated, and to be honest its probably been around 10 times so a sexual drive is still there. the more i really see how that messes up my life the more him afraid to do it..but I pray that God will bless you and me in this matter and that we can be a testimony for someone else

HI there,

You can call me Gemini.

I'm 17 years old and masterbation is one of the hardest things I deal with.   For a while, I also didn't know why it was wrong, but it sure felt wrong,

The best way I've heard it explained is like this:

Why is homosexual marriage wrong?   Well, because that's not how God intended it.  Your going against Gods master plan.  Well, its the same way with masterbation.   It's just not how God intended it.  I guess that rule will apply to any sin that you can think of.

An answer to the comment about semen overflowing, i learned about this stuff in Biology class. Your body has things called inhibitors, competetive or non competetive. They can be harmful to your body or not(such as mercury, which cannot be removed and his harmful to your body). But, when your body has all of a substance it needs an inhibitor is joined with the enzymes that produce whatever the substance was(semen in this case). So your body stops making semen until the enviroment changes and your body senses that it needs more, so the ihibitor disconects and the enzyme starts producing more. So you don't need to worry about producing too much and blowing up or anything.

Man, I came across this post, and I had to give you an honest answer. Viewing sex and masterbation as some sort of thing to resist or battle against is just plain bad for your mental health and well being. Its a natural urge, embedded in our biology, to reproduce. When you don't have a partner to copulate with, masterbation is just a way of coping with the sexual drive. Weather or not God is real, I would seriously doubt that if one did exist, that that being who created you and the rest of the universe would notice or care about what you do in the privacy of your bedroom or bathroom. Why would something that gave you such a strong sexual drive condemn you for the very thing it created? Its insanity. Whoever instilled these ideas about sex and masterbation into your mind is nothing short of a  sick sadist. It sounds as if you're a victim of some sort of mental abuse from childhood. You know who or what did this, and you're the only one who can confront it. I hope that you can find a nice woman, and I wish you the best in life. There are real dangers associated with sex, but sex isn't bad in of of itself. Just be sure to wear a condemn  if you have any concerns about std's from a partner or if you don't want an unplanned pregnancy. Its all about personal responsibility.

-peace

masturbation can be a healthy response to sexual frustration.  but like anything.. too much is never a good thing.  masturbation can (to my knowledge) make you completely unaware of a potential partner's needs or wants.  the necessity of sex, and the feelings associated, is to show love and compassion to whomever involved.

Hello Sebastian,

I am also struggling with this battle, and i am to young to get married.I know why I continue to fail I am not trying hard enough.  However in your case you seem to be trying as hard as you can as I should be, and in regards to your question on natural processes. God gives us two ways out. One is in dreams (nocturnal emissions). Another, which I am surprised was not mentioned from your doctor friends, is  that when the semen banks begin to grow full some is transferred into your urinary track to be passed. Granted this does not by any means empty them it does relieve "tension". Also the process can not be stopped but it can be controlled. When we men look at a woman in "the way", we release hormones that speed up that process. By training our eyes to look at what God intended we can lower production rate. I hope this helps.

In Him,

"Made pure by the Spirit"

to sebastian and don.

i am a very strong believer in god and know that Jesus Christ is the one who has saved me. i came back from a camp yesterday in which i was blessed with the gift of tongues, revival and healing. my feet and back are being healed. i tell you this to let you know, there is no way that god does not exist. jesus is our savior and he will come again.... soon.

what i needed to tell you is when saying things. christians should not say things like:

Thanks. Regards in Christ.

or

In Christ

Pastor Don

but we should be liveing the life like jesus did. not having to go around and tell people u are a man of god. yes it is an amazing thing to know what we know but forcing it upon people will never work.

what i feel i need to say is that go and live life not telling people u are in christ but acting like christ and if you do that. i can promise you they will know god has saved you.

so go forth, listen to what god has to say and follow what he commands!

may god bless you and your works in him!

Hey guys.

I just wanna ask u pastor where in the bible do u see the it is wrong to maturbate? If u realize that in the scriptures of matt. Jesus is talking to his enemies, not his deciples. Lust doesn't refer to sex, it refers to WANTING to do something wrong. As in wanting to kill or steal or rape. In the very first book in the bible, God clearly states that he is satisfied with all that he has made, as he said it was "good". Masturbation and lust are being takin in the wrong context. No where in the bible does it say releasing of semen is bad. Just to wash all things used and let dry. More or so to "unclean" them.

Thanks

Nate

King James Version: Romans Chapter 15

1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

King James Version: Romans Chapter 12

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

King James Version: Romans Chapter 8

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed

Sebastion,

I have the same dirive and temptation and use to masterbate every day. Last year, though, I got really close to the lord and because of the guilt i felt afterwards and my youth pastor telling me it was a sin, i fought it, it was almost imposible to not do it for the first two weeks but as i began to spend more time with the lord, it got easier and my mind got off of ot, it still comes and goes temptation will always come, especially if your living right and increasing in the father. I'monly 17 and i understand how it can be tough, but I am praying for you and it by no means is impossible to not masterbate.

sincerely,

Tyler

p.s.

It's 2010 and I don't know if anyone still views this post, but masturbation is not a sin.  And the bible will not support anyone's claim that it is.  Your struggle increases because of your resistence to a natural occurance in the body.  It is not the devil tempting you.  It is your body letting you know that you need to have sex.  But before sex, you must get married.

However, if you are 35, you need to strongly consider finding a wife.  Moreover, you need to strongly consider finding out why you have not yet found a spouse.  Especially when you are a man and it's a little easier for a man than a woman considering the ratio of men to women.

I am saved.  I love the Lord.  And I am married.

Sebastian,

hello, im hoping you don't have a chance to read this because your post was from 2007 and i am responding 3 years after. so my hope is you are far beyond this battle and at peace with the issue. but i still wanted to write a response in case your still struggling, or more likley for someone else who might be reading this currently and struggling with; or just wondering about the subject of masterbation. i know for christians it's hard to get answers about tough subjects such as these. it can be uncomfortable to talk about, or you've asked and been told it's wrong but don't get any real solution from that. so in sebastions' case, i think a lot of your struggle is coming from your own doing. not to condemn you at all, but i believe that's what your doing to yourself. you feel so much guilt and are weighing yourself down with self-condemnation. remember jesus came to take away our sins, and we all fall short, but god no longer condemns us for sin, he forgives us. and most importantly you need to understand what jesus means by "taking away our sins". he understands that we have no power of our own to quit sinning, (as you referred to romans 7) so god knowing this sent his son into the world to die for our sins, and he became a sin offering for us. so the only way for us to stop sinning is to accept jesus into our hearts and our lives. and what happens is we then allow jesus to "take the wheel". b/c the more we tried to stop sinning our nature caused us to sin even more. so we have to die to ourselfs and our nature and let the holy spirit live through us and we become a new creation of christ. it requires full submission of your will turned over to god's will. and i guarentee if you allow the holy spirit to dwell within you, and die to yourself everday, you thoughts won't be focused on the sinful nature, but on what god's spirit desires. i know that's a lot of info. but read galations, romans, ephesians, and the gospols. they explain that we are no longer enimies of god or under the control of the law. but rather thrgh jesus we are under grace and justified by faith. so now ther is nocondemnation for those who belong to christ. okay that is just a guide on not concentrating on sin or right or wrong, or guilt. god will convict your heart so that you will come to repentance but he will not condemn you for sinning b/c that would take jesus off the cross. but for those who are just wanting to know if masterbation is a sin? the short answer is no. only because the bible gives so little examples of scripture to say or even hint that it's sinful. the most looked at verse's are genisis 38: 6-10 (go read now) some christians believe that by leaving the semen on the ground, was the reason the lord found onan wicked. but i believe that what he truly found wicked was that onan did not follow god's command to procreate w/ his brother's wife. another verse is found in leviticus 15:16-18 (go read now)which talks about when a man has an emmision of semen, he becomes unclean until evening. even if lying w/a woman. but leviticus also refers to blood, touching a dead body, menstral blood, skin blemishes and some foods as unclean. but we must look ahead to the new testement to matthew 15 (read now)Jesus and his disciples regularly violated the Hebrew Scriptures' laws regarding ritual uncleanness. For example, they did not wash their hands before eating -- a shocking behavior to their fellow Jews. Jesus "enunciated the great principle that there is no ceremonial, but only moral and spiritual, uncleanness." One is defiled by "the things that come out of his heart, evil thoughts, hatred, adultery, murder, etc." One does not become unclean by the actions of his hands. so in short my answer was no, if masterbation is ssomthing you do with purity, out of nessesity, or inadvertantly, (such as ejaculating in your sleep, or even masterbating while sleeping) and by with purity i mean only because of your body's natural production of semen and your erection came about naturally, i believe you can release your bodys build up of semen, as an effective way of not getting so frustrated from not allowing yourself to ejaculate, that you are then tempted by lust and start the process of allowing lust into your life. which the bible warns us about. also with natural production and erection, it is simply a duty, or routine and there is no need to think lustful thoughts or get excited by the flesh, your simple maintaning your body and it's balance. okay that is what i believe is an explaination of natural masterbation. b/c like in matt. 15 jesus clearely states the differance between clean n unclean is measured by your heart. and if your heart isn't thinking lustful, sexual thought's as a mean's to ejaculate than your heart is pure. now, finally for all those people who want to expel me from the christian faith for "promoting" masterbation. i don't believe i'm promoting just offering an open minded view and inturrpurtation of scripture. but i do also believe masterbation can be sinful in many ways, and unfourtunatly i believe it is most commonly a sinful act because of the world's obsession with sex, but also b/c of close-minded christians who have a knee jerk reaction to anything having to do with sex in anyway shape or form. so a 13 year old kid is being taught by his "christian" parents or at his youth ministry at his church that masterbation is sinful, without explaining why. and not to mention the same men teaching this to them are complete hypocrites. i guarentee that evry single male teen masterbated and more than likly they did often. it's natural. so why are you now condeming it in your youth sermon when you did the very same thing? so what this does to the 13 year old, is puts it in a catgory of bad things. so he keeps it a secret, lives that part of his life in the dark. and since it's our very nature to sin,we are told it's sinful so we try to stop but can;t. the problem actually gets worse. to the point of thinking lustful thoughts, lusting after the flesh, pornography, sex outside of marriage, and you carry this burden into adulthood where sin can manifest itself into acts of pure evil. you sin can get so out of control that your constantly masterbating to porn., strip clubs, of even having to satisfy it in pervese or criminal ways. that's the real abomanation. thank god we have a god willing to except sinners and powerfully change there life and free them from all the sins of there life. i think i'll close with be very careful what we teach as christians to others. even if you disagree with the thought of natural masterbation, at least consider what guilt and condemnation can lead to. and if a teen or someone else asks you about masterbation or sexual sins and you don't feel cofident that just telling them it's wrong and walking away is the best approach? i sugjest saying there are all types of sins and we all fall short of god's glory thrghout our life. but god's focus is not on our sins, that what jesus died for. rather god's focus ison us having a relationship with him....and preach the gospel with the power of the holy spirit. take everything, every question as an opportunnity to be a witness of god's love. god is love, brian

I have written a blog post for all interested. It is entitled, “Christianity and Pornagraphy, Masturbation, Oral Sex, Anal Sex, Adultery, Fornication, Homosexuality and Sensuality. What Do the Scriptures Have to Say About These Things?” Just type this or 777denny into any search engine to find it.

Did you know the Great Whore, the Vatican (this is NOT to offend Catholics, but is rather about telling the truth. I grew up Catholic — I plan on making a blog post soon about ‘Mystery Babylon’), has misinterpreted the word “fornication” for about 1,700 years? Did you know that until about 50 years ago Vatican teaching taught that sexual intercourse between MARRIED persons was considered fornication? Did you know that if the scriptures are silent on an issue, then it is up to the person or husband to decide whether it is right or wrong? Did you know that if you judge someone for doing something that is not prohibited by scripture that you are sinning?

Find out about all this and more so you can make an informed decision about the subjects in the title of the blog post.

Thanks for listening, 777denny

Hi Paul. I would encourage you to keep the battle. I know truly what you are going through. I have scriptures. .

Galatians 5:16

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

James 1:14-15

14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Matthew 5:28

28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Romans 13:14

28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

When you wake up breath deep. Try to calm yourself down nd pray. The doctor is rite you have no choice but to let out your semen. When you sleep your semen should automatically leave out. Don't maturbate doing the day at all. You have to fight with the spirt man. Since your body can't hold semen it should release at night. You shouldn't really have any urges doin the day.
