Question
Hi! are we supposed to believe that the bible is the literal word of God? historically the New Testament is a collection of writings of "saints" such as Peter.thank you so much!

Answer
The Bible is a collection of 66 books from 40 human authors compiled over a period of 1600 years.  It claims that every word of scripture is inspired(God- breathed).  I believe that one either accepts this premise and embraces the entire Document as God-breathed and preserved, or rejects the entire document.  You cannot pick and choose.

2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

2 Peter 1:21
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Psalm 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

I hope that this helps you.

In Christ,

Expertise

I believe that every word of the Bible is God- Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a literal, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

Experience

I have been in the ministry 20+ years. During that time I served as a youth pastor, christian counselor, assistant pastor, church planter, and a senior pastor.
