Question
I was in the ER last night and I got my test back and it says my cortisol total was 7.94 is that a normal, low or high

Answer
Ashley,

I am not a healthcare professional so I cannot give medical advice. Your laboratory report should give the range. Cortisol can be tested in different ways & the acceptable levels can vary by the time of day.

Understanding lab reports - https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cortisol/tab/test/#what

Factors that can lead to High/ low cortisol - http://www.m.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/cortisol-14668

Reference ranges used by some labs - http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/2088826-overview#a1

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Imani
