Chrysler/Warning light and chime

Question
I have a 2000 Chrysler Neon. When I accelerate up a hill the emergency brake light (exclamation point) lights up and a bell chimes. It goes out after a few seconds. It has been getting more frequent lately. Any ideas?

Answer
What mechanical work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made.

The fIRST thing I would have to look for is a loose or insufficient supply of VACUUM to the emergency brake release disphram located at the brake mechanism under the dash or within the center console whever the emergency brake is positioned.
