I am having the same issues as this person. Your answer said that the cluster was going bad. Do you mean the instrument cluster? why does the van have to be reprogrammed, is the body control computer affected?

ANSWER: there is a circuit board behind the instrument cluster yes it goes bad and will cause no start, loss of gauges and other stuff. The new ones haft to be set up for the van U have because they are pretty much universal as what they go in like same one for sebrings, dakotas and so on. The cluster has to be told where the tach,MPH ,fuel all that where low and high is at. and also the miles are setup for that cluster a new one will display what ever they tested it as when they built them. The BCM nor nething else is affected buy it.

QUESTION: Do I have to purchase a new instrument cluster or just the circuit board? If it is only a circuit board what is the modules name? From your answer, it seems to be only a circuit board since the vehicle specific info would already be programmed into the instrument cluster. hmmm? well maybe not for different engines.

Answer U can get just a printed circuit board and IT WILL NEED to be programed to the car that U have or stuff like the MPH and tach wont work and U will have some number on the miles display.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD
REMOVAL
Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster with Mechanical Transmission Range Indicator Removal and Installation in this section.
Remove the instrument cluster back panel.
Disconnect the electronic cluster wire connector from the printed circuit board Instrument Cluster Printed Circuit Board
Remove the screws holding wire connector insulator to the instrument cluster shell and the printed circuit board.
Remove the screws holding printed circuit board to the cluster shell.
Remove the printed circuit board from the cluster.
INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse the above procedures. After installing the print circuit board it will have to be calibrated using a scan tool (DRB III) Refer to the proper Body Diagnostic Procedure Manual for calibration procedures.
NOTE: Speedometer and/or Tachometer will not operate properly until all gauges have been calibrated
