Chrysler Repair - 2004 stratus r/t 2.7 O2 sensor

Expert: Kevin - 10/29/2009

Question
QUESTION: I recently moved to a state that requires a vehicle inspection and my stratus failed for O2 Sensor.  I hooked up my scanner and when reading live data, it says the o2 sensor is not responding.  If it is bad, how do I know which one to change.  I also installed a water for gas unit on before I moved, could that have anything to do with it?

ANSWER: what are the codes for the check engine light   did it come on after u installed the water for gas?
I to have been tinkering with this setup hows yours going?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: There are no codes, that is why i am perplexed.  The water for gas unit has been on for quite some time now, i have mixed feelings about it.  It saves me only about 3-4 mpg on gas, almost not worth the effort.  Back to the problem, the O2sensor must not be switching, but there is no code?  The inspection place only uses scan tools, my previous state used a gas analyzer, i probably would pass this.

Answer
what state is it?  most of the time they hook it up  see if there is a check engine light on which the computer has more knowledge if the o2 sensor arnt working they they do because its federal programing that is the software guidelines  if they arnt switching or working then u would have codes or a check engine light on.
