Chrysler Repair - '93 Imperial no start when warm

Expert: Roland Finston - 11/5/2009

Question
I have a 1993 Chrysler Imperial that will not start after it has been driven for a while. When I try to start the car I see a little fan symbol flashing on the cluster gauge below the speedometer. After about an hour or so the car will start. What is that fan symbol and how can it be fixed.

Answer
Hi Roxann,
I believe that is the symbol for the windshield washer fluid bottle needing to be refilled.
So on the 'no start' when hot, try using your ignition switch to find out what the engine controller has observed which may be a clue: turn the "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to assure an accurate set of flash counts. Tell me the counts in the order that they appeared and we'll go from there.
