Chrysler Repair - ac clutch pulley removal

Expert: Roland Finston - 6/30/2009

Question
Roland,
I'm wondering if the clutch pulley be removed from the AC compressor on a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible JXi?
Thanks,
Paul

Answer
Hi Paul,
There are a couple of theaded holes in the plate on the end into which you insert 6 mm bolts and tighten them in place, then put two box end wrenches on the bolt heads and use the wrenches side by side to grip the plate to prevent it from turning while you remove the compressor shaft nut. Then lightly tap on plate with a plastic hammer to remove the plate and some shims. Use a snap ring pliers to remove the ring that holds the pulley on, and the pulley should then come off.
Roland
