Question Hi, I have a Chrys T&C van that won't start. Engine would start & run for a few seconds and then shut down. Now it won't start at all unless I spray starter fluid into the intake. It starts & runs as long as I keep the starter fluid going. There is fuel in the injection rail and it is pressurized, so I'm guessing injectors aren't being told to open. Any ideas? Thanks. Terry
Answer Hi Tony,
Starting and running for a few seconds is the symptom of the vehicle theft security system being in the alarmed status and thus preventing you from starting and running the engine continuously. You didn't mention the year so I can't say specifically exactly what the solutions might be. But the most common remediation is to lock/unlock the passenger door using the door key, and then try to start it. If that doesn't do the trick then do the same on the driver door. Let me know if it doesn't work, tell me the year model, and anything that could have happened relative to the theft system.
