Question I own a 2001 Chrysler T&C with 73,739K miles, in excellent condition with on-time maintenance. Check-engine light is on with code 0601, to change the PCM. How easy is it to change out the old PCM with a refurbished one, already programmed with my VIN, mileage, etc.? Or, do you recommend I take the van to an auto mechanic to have the change-out made?

The only things that you have to remove are:
the battery shroud which conceals the PCM a bit. There are two screws that hold the PCM in place on its top edge, directly in front of the battery,
and one screw on the lower side that is hidden behind the headlamp housing. The headlamp housing has two screws accessed from within the engine compartment (one in-board, one out-board) that hold it to the radiator closure panel, and one screw on the top that holds it to the radiator crossmember. Once you have pulled the housing forward if you look behind it you will see a screw that retains the PCM which when removed will release the PCM.
Other than that, simply unplug the two plugs and reverse the procedure.
