Question
From Time to time I got the P456 on the car. Yestersday while I wqas driving I heard a rare noise (like a metal broke in to 2 pieces), and this morning I got the P440 and P456 together. I have replaced the cap months ago, but still getting the P456.

Any idea?

Answer
Hi Simon,
The 0440 goes a step further than the 0456 in that is says there is a 'general failure' of the evap recovery system. What you heard was probably why the new code. It should be obvious in the plumbing of the system upon inspection. Probably a vacuum line that is metal broke. The solenoid is located in the right front of the engine compartment, and the assembly is underneath the vehicle in front of the fuel tank. It is connected together with vacuum and vepor carrying lines. If you can recall the location of the noise that would be your best starting place.
