Question
My husband recentley purchased this full sized 4wd. It is oil fouling the #8 plug, not real bad,but enough to produce a miss. The truck has 122,000 miles and all maintenance has been caught up, It has the 5.9l V8. Oil pressure is very good,we have not done a compression test. The motor runs very strong, but Im concerned about possible internal issues in the motor. We dont have alot of experience with dodge vehicles as this is the first weve ever owned. We are using an autolite plug with a higher heat range, what advice could you give us?  Really like the truck, but dont want to get in over our heads. Have considered a non-fouler,but hate to go there. Thanks in advance for any help you might give us. Rebecca

Answer
Hi Rebecca,
I would do a compression test on the bad cylinder, both as found and with a teaspoon of oil added so as to see if the rings are bad, or possibly the valve seals on that cylinder could be what is causing the excessive oil. I don't have much experience with the trucks or the V8 engine but it might be good to know if it were the valve seals you could fix that without much tear down of the engine.
