Question
QUESTION: repair said i need a solenoid pack, auto zone gave these codes P.O. and P.O.  was driveing  truck went clunk, engine light came on, the auto repair guy said it shifted great yesterday and said thought it was the differental { rear} or bearings, he looked at it today and said solenoid pack quoted 998.00 for repairs

ANSWER: Hi Theresa,
What were the full code numbers? Can you get another readout so we know exactly what the 4-digits are that follow each P?
That is all I can suggest before going ahead with purchase of a solenoid pack.
What is a "raider duracross"? Is it made by Chrysler?
The code numbers are applicable for all makes of vehicle so it isn't crucial that I know who made the vehicle.

QUESTION: sorry   po 700 and po750   dodge made it for mitsubushi its a dakota with a different body  2006 4.7 8 cyl  4x4

Answer
Hi Theresa,
The 0700 code is usually set along with a specific code and is usually interpreted as a signifier that there is indeed another transmission code that is specific. It alone can indicate a problem with the transmission controller, but that would more likely be the case if there was not any other transmission code. So I would go with the 0750 which says the the low/reverse solenoid is not working properly and that is part of the solenoid/pressure switch assembly. The only other possibility would be a simple issue of the  wire connecting the solenoid to the pcm so those would by smart to test for continuity just in case that is the issue. On the
'06 Dakota 4-speed trans that wire is from pin 7 of the assembly plug to pin 10 of the 4th plug at the powertrain controller. If you have the 5-speed let me know and I can give you that one's pin numbers. If the wire proves to be ok, then removing and replacing the assembly as a unit is typical though at that price I would encourage them to inspect the LR solenoid itself for dirt or other repairable issue that would avoid buying the entire unit. The manual says that individual solenoids are not sold separately.  I have to admit that I am not familiar with the cost of the pack and the cost of the labor. The assembly is inside the unit behind the valve body but it still can be replaced without removing the transmission, rather just dropping the oil pan to get at the valve body, remove it, and then the solenoid pack. So it should not cost anything like a 'rebuild'. You might get a second quote from a good independent trans shop.
