Question
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger 5.7- Malfunction light came on, car runs great, no overheating-antifreeze a little low so I topped it off. From what I can find, it could just be a sensor, my auto repair guy wants $80 to diagnose the problem. Happened a year ago and finally went out. Can I disconnect the battery to reset it. Then if it comes on again, worry about it.

Answer
Hi Harvey,
Thanks for the kind remarks and rating just now. May I ask a favor? I am in a neck and neck competition to be "volunteer of the month" and you may, if you wish, also 'rate' this question. Note that there is question where you are invited to nominate me for 'volunteer', and if you would respond to that with a 'yes' that would be appreciated greatly.

Hi Harvey,
That code says the engine coolant temp sensor's sensor voltage is reading too high. The temp sensor is located by the thermostat housing. It could be the sensor has gone bad, or its wires may be shorted together nearby on the plug harness.
The troubleshoot cover 4 pages in the manual which I can copy off a CD and attach to an email to you directly. But to get your email address you need to send me a NEW question where you check the keep question PRIVATE box, and in the text tell me the address. If you don't follow my directions the address will be erased.
Disconnecting the battery usually resets the codes, but it could come back as soon as it is detected once again.
