QUESTION: i wake up mt 87chrys.5th will not turn over. i check the spark, compression last fuel... I replace the fuel pump,filter also, still... NOTHING!! am I missing something???? Any help would be appreciated thanks

ANSWER: Try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. The watch the 'check engine" light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to be sure of an accurate set of flash counts. Tell me the counts in order of appearance and we'll go from there.

Then remove the dash and replace the bulb or pay a shop to do the readout if you can find one with an OBD-I code reader. One possibility is to check that the stem of the egr valve is not sticking slightly ajar. It has a slot into which a screwdriver tip can be inserted. Move it back and forth and be sure it closed by internal spring-action. Spray some WD-40 on it if it is sticky.
