Question
I have a 1994 chrysler concorde the heat and air control panal is dead, nothing works and the defrost in stuck wide open all the time. Help!!!!

Answer
Hi Ray,
There are 2 power wires to the control panel. One shows 12V there all the time and the other one in the 'run' position of the ignition switch. The full time power comes directly from the battery. On the + post clamp there are 4 wires, the two fat ones and 2 skinny ones. The skinny ones are actually fusible links, which are wires that behave like fuses. When they blow it may not be obvious but you can pull gently and if it feels limp then the fusible needs to be replaced. The one that powers the AC panel is the brown one, and it is spliced to a black/pink wire that you will find at a four-pin disconnect at the frame rail on the left side of the engine compartment.
So test that fusible or measure for the presence of 12V at the disconnect on the black/pink wire.
The other source of voltage to the control panel is from fuse #6 in the fuse box located behind the left end cap of the dash.
If you want to check the voltage at the rear of the control panel, the first one is on pin 8 of the black plug, and the second in on pin 5 of the blue plug (white wire).
So check to see if that fuse is blown.

One or the other of these may solve the problem. If not let me know.
Roland
