Chrysler Repair/'01 Concorde: LR solenoid latched

Question
I have a 2001 chrysler concorde with a 3.2. The check engine light came on and the car jerked. It will not shift out of second gear. I left it set for a week and drove it 1/4 of a mile and it was fine. I let of the gas and it done the same thing. One code I found said it had a solenoid latched in the lr position. I did notice about a week before I had problems I was stopped at a light on a slight grade and when I let off the brake and gave it the gas the car jerked before it started to move. I have also noticed the speedometer bounces a little. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Jason,
I assume that the code number was 1776. If that is the case then I believe the problem is in the valve body inside the transmission. Fortunately that can be repaired/replaced without removing the transmission but it does require dropping the pan and collecting the fluid and then some careful dismantling but nothing like a re-build. All the symptoms are consistent with that code. So you can shop around to find a shop that knows the Chrysler ETAX transmission or consider a do--it-yourself effort. There are 16 pages in the manual that show how to do the job which I can copy and attach to an email but I need to know your email address. Use a private follow-up question to tell me your email address if you want me to do that.
