Chrysler Repair/'97 2.5L V-6: Intake Air Sensor

Question
Hi Roland,
I have a 97 Chrysler Sebring Convertible.  It is the V6 model.  After running my car on his computer, my mechanic said I needed to buy an air intake sensor.  When I called the dealer, they said that there are two types: 1. The one that is solid and when inserted, locks by screwing on, and 2. The one that is made of thread and is locked by snapping on or inserting and turning once.

I have no idea what he means and no idea which sensor my model requires.  Is there a sensor standard to my model? If not, how do I find out which one my model requires?

Thanks,
Roger

Answer
Hi Roger,
Both the '95, '96, '98, and '00 manuals show the IAT sensor to screw into the intake manifold, very close to the throttle body. It has two wires: black/red and black/light blue which should be visible at the plug. The easiest thing would be to take a look at what you have and buy accordingly. It appears to thread into the manifold. I would believe the '97 should be identical to what I see pictured in the manuals. I see nothing similar to what the parts person mentioned.
