Chrysler Repair/blower motor control module?

Question
Roland, like you I have been wrenching forever and I read your response to the Concorde blower motor staying on and the answer was quite helpful, but I was wondering if you could please expound on the "blower motor power control module" as there are those times when we as mechanics usually name things that are not called what they actually are. I looked up "power control module" and got pages and pages of "blower motor resisters". From your description of the location of the item in question, to the left of the blower motor for cooling purposes and from the pic on the parts pages you can see my confusion as the resistor also requires cooling. So do you mean the "blower motor resistor" or the "control module" with the thermistor attached? Thank-you for your time and response, Greg

Answer
Hi Greg,
The type of blower motor device depends upon whether it is a conventional control unit (which has 4 blower speeds) or a automatic temperature control unit (which has 14 speeds). The former is accomplished by a simple resistor block (4 resistance choices) where the latter uses a solid state variable voltage source to produce the various speeds called a power module. So that pairs up the type of the device to the control head.
