Chrysler Repair/P0441 trouble code: '02 voyager minivan

Question
I've gotten spot-on, no nonsense advice from you before, and I'm back again to bother you.

Getting a 0441 code on 92 Voyager.  Came on after getting gas the other night.  The web in general says it can be anything from bad gas cap (really, that's a 0442, apparently) to hoses to evap units (along with the usual totally-wrong-on-its-face information).

Can you recommend a diagnostic sequence to pursue?  And are the suspect units located in accessible locations, or is this a shop/ on-lift problem?

Answer
Hi Allen,
The code points specifically toward the evap purge solenoid or its vacuum hose connections to the tank and to the intake manifold. It is located near firewall/on the right side of the engine's engine mount and has two vacuum lines and two wires (dark blue/brown and dark blue/white). Check the vacuum connections and hoses and the wire harness.
Because this happened right after a fill-up I should mention that a 'liquid separator' at the gas tank proper has also been implicated as a source of the problem when it allow liquid gas into the vapor loop. So if you find nothing wrong with the vacuum lines/wires, drive the van some more, fill it up slowly the next time you need gas and maybe not all the way, erase the code by disconnecting the battery briefly, and then see if the code returns. The 'fix' for that issue can involve removal and replacement of the gas tank, so try the work-around approach first. It may be a one-time issue that won't return.
