Question
I have a 97 dodge caravan 3.3l and the fans are not working. i have replaced the temp sensor behind the thermostat and the relay under the airbox the fans still will not turn on unless i unplug the temp sensor. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Bradley,
It would appear that the fan actuation circuits are working so you are left with the sensor circuit of the intereaction between the sensor and the coolant proper. Might there be an air bubble in the cooling system at the location of the sensor so that it is not able to sense the coolant's actual temperature? Are you certain that the coolant temperature is at the level that calls fpr the fans (204 F for low speed, 220 F for high speed, and do the fans come on when you ask for AC regardless of temp)? Have you measured across the terminals of the temp sensor when you believe that the temp has risen to the temp that would initiate the fans (it should be below 1,000 ohms). Those are the questions I would seek to answer.
