Question
I replaced the lifters, pushrods, rocker arms and shaft on my 1997 Chrysler town and country 3.8 2wd.  Ran great with no codes for 100 miles then threw code p1494.  I cant see any leaks or cracks in any hoses.  Anything I should look for?

Answer
Hi Geoff,
The code refers to the vapor collection and recycling system which involves a leak detection pump and a three position solenoid switch. I would check over the hoses of that system in its entirety using the diagram on the hood. There are many hoses involved. Let me know if you don't have that drawing and I can xerox and postal mail it to you.
Then check the wiring between the pcm and the solenoid/pump,
pin 68 to pin 1 of the solenoid (pink/black), and from pin 77 to pin 2 at the pump(white/dark green), and pin 72 to pin 1 at the pump(yellow/black) for shorts/opens or intermittents by gently shaking the harness. Pin 2 at the solenoid and pin 3 at the pump should show 12V in the 'run' position (white/black).
