Question
Roland,
I am having the same problem with my 99 Intrepid...the mode function does not change the door position. The car sat for 3 years as the previous engine blew after 226,000 mi. I just recently put a new engine in and everything works except the mode dial does not have any effect on position ie. defrost, vent, floor etc. I ran the diagnostic and got code AC 24. You had said to disconnect the neg. post and touch to the pos. post for about 1 min. Do I disconnect both cables from the battery or just the neg.?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
Ron

Answer
I don't think it matters whether you remove the + post clamp, but to be sure you can remove both, beginning with the - post clamp, and ending with the - post clamp.
You may need to replace the mode door actuator which I can tell you about how to do that.
