Question
I have replaced my bank 1 o2 sensor 2 times now. Each time the check engine light has been reset it comes back on with-in 24 hours and reads bank 1 sensor. This is driving me crazy. Please can you give me some suggestions on what the problem may be and how to fix it? I am trying to pass my states emissions.

Answer
Hi Dianna,
It is likely that the connection of one of the four wires to the sensor is flakey. Let me know the year/model/engine size and I can tell you how to check the connection between each wire and the engine controller main plug. It takes a continuity tester or a volt-ohm meter to check that. If you have paid someone for the job they should have done this in the first place, so they should do this troubleshoot and repair of the wire for free. If there are two sensors for the bank, the other issue would be is the upstream or the downstream sensor that the code is pointing at as you may have not replaced the correct sensor. What was the code number?
