Chrysler Repair/replace shifter cable

Question
QUESTION: On my 2000 Chrysler LHS I started to have a little problem shifting out of Park.  A few days later I can not get it into park any more.  I came to the conclusion I needed a new shift cable but I do not have a clue on how to replace this?
any help would be greatly appreciated so my husband can start working on it.

ANSWER: Hi Linda,
Is it a floor mounted shift or a column mounted shift lever?
I have the procedures for the '98 model that I would have to xerox and postal mail to you, or I have the procedures for the '04 model year that I can copy from a CD and attach to an email. They are very similar to oneanother so it is up to you which year to send. In any case, tell me the floor or column and then tell me either your postal mailing address or you email address. To do that, start a new question and check the 'keep question private box' for security.

PS It is also possible that only an adjustment is needed so maybe I should start with that? Have you verified that the cable itself is worn out?

QUESTION: it is a floor mount but I do not believe these are the same thing.  I saw a previous fix list on this and the diagram wasn't the same.
I am attaching an image of my console

ANSWER: Hi Linda,
There are very minor differences between the '98 and the '04 instructions. So I would find it easier to copy off the CD that pages that show the cable removeal/replacement and adjustement and attach those to an email. Please start a new question, click the box to make it 'private' and type in your email address as I otherwise won't know to whom it should be sent.
Roland
PS Thanks for the photos. The minor differences are not visible to me, so let us go with the '04.

QUESTION: not sure if I sent you the console picture

Answer
Again,
The details would be in very close up-views at the shifter and inside the engine compartment. I think the best thing to do is share the instructions that I can easily send you by email. So if you want the '04 pages start a new 'private' question and tell me your email address.
By the way, the photo option of this website is very unhelpful. I see the steering wheel but I can't get any enlargement of the image. But it really won't help for the reasons I said.
If after looking at the pages I send by email you find them inapplicable I can then xerox copy and postal mail the pages from the '98 manual. My belief is that you husband will 'get the idea' from the emailed version.

Linda,
Thank you for the rating/nomination/kind remarks.
Now I have made myself 'available' for a new question. Please use that and as I said you must make the question 'private', and then in the text list your email address. I don't otherwise know what it is, only Allexperts sees that routinely.
