Question
Roland, what should the cold and hot idle RPM be for this vehicle?

Thanks!

Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
I couldn't find a spec for idle speed as it is controlled by the powertrain control module and is based upon many different factors at the moment: gear position, engine coolant temp, ambient temp and battery temp, battery voltage, vehicle speed, throttle position and manifold absolute pressure. So you would need to readout all those variable with an engine reader and then have to know how the pcm is programmed in order to find out whether the rpm is what it is supposed to be. It is just a fact of life that something that previously was simple is no longer so. Beyond that is that the idle speed in adjusted by an idle air control 'motor' which is operated by the pcm.
